Cliff McCrath, who directed the Seattle Pacific men’s soccer team to five national championships, was inducted into the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame during a banquet Friday, January 16th at the organization’s annual convention.

Including all divisions of college soccer, McCrath ranks second in all-time coaching victories with 597. He fashioned a 597-233-95 record in 49 years as a collegiate head coach.

McCrath’s tenure at SPU spanned from 1970 to 2007. During those 38 seasons, his teams registered a remarkable 512-190-87 record. The Falcons made 30 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, advanced to the championship game 10 times and won titles in 1978, 1983, 1985, 1986 and 1993.

He led SPU to 37 consecutive winning seasons, an NCAA Division II record. Under his guidance, Seattle Pacific players were named NSCAA All-Americans 18 times, while more than 40 of his players have been drafted by professional teams. In addition, more than 100 of his former players have become coaches at the high school and college levels.

The 1978 NSCAA National Coach of the Year, McCrath received the association’s highest honor, the Honor Award, in 1985.
